Stockbridge
Tucked into the Southeast corner of Ingham County, this village is home to about 1,260, with another thousand or so living in the surrounding township. The community is characterized by an agricultural past, and several large scale family farms still exist just outside the village.
An impressive century-old Town Hall on the village square hosts various cultural events, including performances staged by a civic theater group and concerts supported by a local arts council. The school system includes a very active community education program with a variety of classes and activities. The library, part of the Lansing-based Capital Area District Library, is open seven days a week during the school year and offers a wide selection of materials and a robust interlibrary loan service.
The largest single event in Stockbridge is A Day In The Village sponsored by the Stockbridge Area Chamber of Commerce, a festival held annually on Father’s Day weekend and drawing to its arts and crafts booths, theater and musical acts visitors from around the mid-Michigan area.
