It’s the Silver Anniversary for Silver Bells in the City as Lansing rolls out its Electric Light Parade and illuminates Michigan’s official Christmas tree Friday, November 20. The 25th annual event also features free, live entertainment at multiple downtown sites, and the spectacular sight of fireworks at the State Capitol building (weather permitting). The Hudsonville Annual Holiday Parade struts through town Saturday morning, November 21, and in Sault Ste. Marie the Santa Claus Parade lights up the night on November 21.
Santa’s arrival in Detroit November 26 is a highlight of America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a Turkey Day tradition since 1924. Runners flock to the annual Turkey Trot 5km/10km run, which precedes the 9:30 a.m. parade, and on November 28 visitors are invited to spend A Day in Paradeland with close-up views of the floats and all sorts of family fun at the home of The Parade Company.
Holiday parades also march through Grosse Pointe, Howell, Ishpeming and Port Huron November 27, Petoskey November 28, and historic Marshall on November 30.
