My favorite place to go in downtown Detroit is Saints Peter and Paul Jesuit Church for University of Detroit Mercy School of Law’s annual Red Mass. Red Mass is an occasion for judges, lawyers, and officials of all faiths to pray together for guidance at the beginning of the new judicial term and join in the Renewal of the Lawyer’s Oath of Commitment. It is a time to ask God to bless, strengthen and enlighten all servants of the law so that in cooperation and mutual trust we may more effectively achieve justice and freedom for all. It is a wonderful reminder of why I became a lawyer and brings me back to my alma mater University of Detroit Mercy. LBecker@BeckerLegalGroup.com
Everywhere in Detroit is a place to learn and enjoy. It’s so enriched with history and is still making history. My favorite thing about Detroit is the holidays huge fireworks display and one of the largest Thanksgiving Parades it knows how to bring families together.
I love the design schools in Detroit and the design talent in Detroit. University of Detroit Mercy is one of the best Architecture school in the nation and along with CCS, Wayne State, and IADT they are turning out the next generation of Detroit designers to change the world like our predecessors did from the industrial revolution! I am proud to be a member of Detroit designers not leaving the state, because Detroit has rich design history in all areas.

@cbrennan906 One of my favorite things too!
I grew up in and around Detroit living at different locations along 8 Mile. When I was young, we would go to Mt Olivet Cemetery and ride are bike through the cemetery and look at all the beautiful headstones and monuments. We would also spend time on Belle Isle at the conservatory, zoo, or go swimming and have picnics. I would go to Greek town, the Ren Cen and look at all the beautiful structures of Detroit. Every year I would attend Cobo Hall‘s Auto show. My husband and I loved to go to Hamtramck and taste the foods of Poland and hit the blues bars. We also loved going to Woodward and enjoy the Cruise. We would try and catch as many Tigers games as we could. I was blessed with many wonderful places to go in Detroit, But one of my favorite places to go, is mass at Sweetest Heart of Mary on Russell Street. One of the most beautiful churches around. As this just touches a bit of the Pure Michigan places I have been and memories I have had the experience to enjoy, Detroit has given me the greatest pure memories one could have. Thank you Detroit. Pure Michigan!

My parents are in their 80s and I enjoy taking them downtown to the casinos. Getting there is the best part, when they both re-live their past in telling stories about the sites and how things “used to be” in and around the downtown area. What a vibrant city it must have been and the obvious dedication to make a comeback to that time!

One of my favorite things to do in Detroit is to attend a play or musical at the gorgeous Fox Theatre, or the Fisher , both world-class venues for world class productions! As a family, we traditionally took our children to enjoy a major production every year, and we have many wonderful memories.
We receive the Pure Michigan e-newsletter. Through that newsletter we read about “an evening lantern walking tour of the Underground Railroad”. We purchased tickets, we went to Detroit and we thouroughly enjoyed our adventure! It was not only a moving experience but gave us a “Taste of Detroit” that will bring us back to explore more!

As a transplanted Michigander, I have to stop into two places every time I visit the D:
1. Papa Papalis Pizza in Greektown for phenomenal pizza and large beverages
2. Old Sihllelagh Irish Pub for live music and a great atmosphere
Both places are a must visit for those unfamiliar.
So much to do in Michigan, and in Detroit. The casinos all year round, and the Detroit Freedom Festival and fireworks in June are my favorites. Loved the song, too!
