September 9, 2012

in Events,Posts by Region

Last month, Jeff Barrett and Rob Bliss embarked on an epic Pure Michigan road trip, where they visited 50 Michigan cities in 7 days. Throughout their journey, they interacted with people from communities along the way to create an energetic digital video that highlights various things the state has to offer. We’re excited to premiere the final video below.

Thank you to everyone who joined in on Rob and Jeff’s adventures! Let us know if you took part in the making of this fun singalong!

I loved the video.  You included many places that I visited this August such as Traverse City, Ludington, Gaylord, etc.  And you included my hometown of Royal Oak.  How did you manage to get to so many places in one week.  I visited for two weeks and I didn’t get to half of your cities.  Your video was a special treat for me.  I will definitely be back!  Sincerely, Lee from Chicago N.W. suburbs

@mackinacisle 50 cities in 7days & pure michigan funded it! I’m not sure what value there is in filming a short video in such a short time!

14 DavidVeselenak September 10, 2012 at 9:23 am

Fun. I realize people won’t always be happy with things like this (“You didn’t visit my hometown, ______”) but a pretty nice representation of our great state. I’ll watch it a few more times today, trying to see if I recognize anyone!

15 JudithGrabowski September 10, 2012 at 12:37 pm

Thoroughly enjoyed my adventures to the many cities I’ve been in while visiting Michigan.

16 lynntrall September 11, 2012 at 11:18 am

I really enjoyed the video! I remembered seeing the news covering the making of it while they were in Holland… loved it!

17 JodieWatson September 11, 2012 at 11:28 am

gotta love it – governors office sends this out – and me – a state employee – cant view the video because we dont have the latest flash program installed…. ours is likely 10 yrs out of date…. and we cant install it ourselves… have to have DTMB do those kinds of things.  Come on governor – how about bringing your employees into the current world in technology~!

@ClovisSangrael Hahaha! That is awesome.

23 ClovisSangrael September 17, 2012 at 3:40 pm

@bcbray have you seen the Grand Rapids lipdub? i don’t know why we seem to be cornering the market on this kind of thing, but sure. why not?

24 bcbray September 17, 2012 at 6:55 pm

@ClovisSangrael Hmm… I think I have seen it, but can’t get a mental image right now. We corner the market b/c we’re rad.

25 DonaldJohn September 18, 2012 at 7:21 am

Why Didn’t you show Detroit? Or mention that in 2010, Michigan lead the nation!…. In Violent crimes, Aggravated assault,  Motor vehicle theft, and was second in Arson to Toledo.

26 Illwind September 18, 2012 at 8:12 am

 @DonaldJohn
 We should remember the goodness & beauty of Michigan, not dwell on the bad things.  There is so much beauty in Michigan and I saw it again during the two weeks I spent there in August.  Beauty in scenery and in thepeople.

Good video, buf you left off the best which is the Coper Country towns-Houghton/ Hancock/ Calumet/ Laurium/ Copper Harbor. Sad as they are the best of the UP.

28 ctcsme September 18, 2012 at 10:56 am

Good video, but you left the best of the UP out which is The Copper Country. What a shame as Houghton, Hancock, Calumet, Laurium and Copper Harbor make the UP great.

29 Pure Michigan September 18, 2012 at 1:57 pm

 @ctcsme The Copper Country is beautiful with lots of state parks, including Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park. Maybe Rob and Jeff will do another video and feature the area.

 @David Greene Thanks for your comment, David. Thanks for stopping by.

 @Pure Michigan   @ctcsme Let’s hope so, as it was sad to see this area be slighted in this very nice and uplifting video for the State of MI. No place in MI has the feel nor history of The Copper Country.It is a nature lovers paradise and home to MTU a world class engineering college. It is truly a unique place that is hard to leave and return back to my home in VA at the end of each summer vacation. I am not a MI native, but all my relatives are who are scattered all about MI. It’s a great State with nice people, so keep up the good work of geting the word out.

Video is gone! Did someone forget to buy rights to the song? If so, that would be very sad. Loved the video, and would hate for it to disappear in copyright oblivion.

@BeefcakeFactory how about the mikado instead ?

38 DavidNDoreenDaly September 24, 2012 at 8:04 pm

Great video!!  Why haven’t we seen it on TV??

39 Pure Michigan September 25, 2012 at 10:40 am

 @Diamonds and Pearls The producers secured usage rights to the song and were unaware of any secondary copyright claim holders. The producers are working to get this resolved.
