We had a blast marveling over the phenomenal photos our fans submitted during last year’s Pure Michigan Moments photo contest. Since we had such a wonderful turn out, we’re excited to once again invite fans of Pure Michigan to share their favorite “Michigan Moment” as part of the 2nd Annual Pure Michigan Moments photo contest!

The winning photo and the photographer’s name will be published in the 2014 spring/summer Pure Michigan Travel Guide. The photo submission period of the contest kicks off today (November 1, 2013) and will run through November 10th.

After entries are submitted, fans will be able to vote for their favorite photo on the Pure Michigan Facebook page from November 11th- November 17th.

Fans can submit photos directly to the Pure Michigan Facebook contest tab, or through Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #puremichigancontest. All submissions will be automatically fed into the customized Facebook tab on Pure Michigan’s page, where fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite photos.

The winner will be chosen from the top 10 photos, as voted on by fans, based on which photo best represents the quality and character of Pure Michigan. You must be a fan of Pure Michigan on Facebook to view the photos and vote.

The winning photo will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people in the 2014 spring/summer Pure Michigan Travel Guide.  One million copies of the guide will be printed, with 650,000 copies being distributed with the March/April issue of Midwest Living magazine.

Here is the winning photo from last year’s contest by Sean Chess of Coldwater, MI at the St. Joseph Lighthouse. For more inspiration, visit our Pure Michigan Facebook page, Instagram, or Flickr channels.

  1. I often have images that I wouldlove to post to aocmpeition like this and yet I always hear about it after the fact. I think they should do more to publicize ta contest like this for many who want to be part of it.

  2. I added a photo on my instagram page, and the PureMichigan instagram page commented with a link to “claim your entry here” and leads me to a facebook link. I do not have a facebook and don’t really know what that comment means, I thought all I had to do was add the hashtag. Guidance?

  3. If you go to the Facebook page for Pure Michigan, look for the contest tabs. Under the “Submit” tab it says you can submit one photo per day.

  4. Tom Eckels – people are allowed to submit up to one photo per day during the submission period. Good luck!

Mary Tullila – it can take up to 24 hours for your photo to be approved and appear in the Gallery. Yes, you are eligible to submit a photo of Michigan even though you are an Illinois resident (the rules require entrants to be a U.S. citizen of any of the 50 states).

  5. Last year photo was great, I loved the color of the sky in the middle which is in contrast with the upper sky and the water. superb composition and nice colors. I have sent my photo this time hope to see it soon.

  6. Tom, Mary,

The submission page states: Use the form below to submit an entry. Photos should be original, of your own creation, and not have been entered in any other competition. Please include the location in Michigan of your photo. You may submit one photo per day. Please note that photos may take up to 24 hours to post.
The Contest is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) states of the United States and the District of Columbia (excluding Puerto Rico and U.S. territories) who, as of the date of entry, are 18 years of age or older and have internet access. The entry period is from November 1st to November 10th. The voting period is from November 11th to November 17th.

    Kindest regards,

  7. I’m with Tom about his question. I have numerous candidates as well. Another question I have is..I am a Holland, Mich. native but live in Illinois atm…will this be a problem? Waiting on my two submissions so far to be added to the photo stream.

    A Michigan girl…
    Mary Tullila

  8. I’ve read thru the info on the photo contest several times and still can’t find an answer to my question which is…… How many entries can one person submit? 1, 5, 20, as many as they can load up?

Just curious, I’ve got a bunch of candidates, but it makes a difference what I submit depending on the number of allowable submissions.

    Tom Eckels
