hand logoHey food fans … it’s me, Tom Daldin from the PBS TV show “Under The Radar Michigan.” If you live to eat, you should live in Michigan. We’ve got such an incredible variety of great places to chow that you could spend a lifetime here eating your way to supreme culinary contentment. From fabulous fine dining to funky finer diners, Michigan has every kind of cuisine from every corner of the planet. We discovered early in season one that food is the single biggest trigger for human beings (and our crew) so we pull that trigger early and often on our show.

In Michigan, we’ve discovered everything from the world’s best sliders, and a place where you can get Thanksgiving dinner any day of the year, to places that grow absolutely everything you eat, and incredible restaurants where the atmosphere and experience is every bit as cool and unique as the food. A lot of people are now coming to Michigan for what they’re calling “Foodie Adventures” … They’re vacations that revolve around great food finds … and that’s something we love to do on UTR. It’s a tough job … but somebody’s got to do it … and it may as well be us. But, guess what … you can too … take a look:

  1. I never see your show in the 3 counties that make up the “thumb”. Tuscola, Huron & Sanilac.

  2. Ann Arbor has some AMAZING gems, some hidden some not. We really love Ayse’s Cafe for Turkish home cooking (very good for my gluten free spouse), Monahan’s fish market for lunch, and Northside Grille for brunch!

  3. Twisted Rooster, Grand Rapids. Love the fish tacos! Or, for fantastic pizza, try River City Pizza a hole in the wall, in Newaygo. Their pasties are great too.

  4. Brann’s in Grand Rapids (Cascade) has the BEST ribs or Margo’s in Greenville has the best breakfast and is charming.

  5. Nonna’s Cafe in Ada – definitely a hidden gem that represents exactly why I love Michigan!

  6. Under the Radar should take a trip to the “Grand Buffet” at the Mackinac Island Grand Hotel. It’s unforgettable!

  7. Everywhere!! We are moving Home this summer after 14 years away. I am especially looking forward to going up North and having some Pasties!!

  8. I’d go anywhere in Michigan. It’s such a wonderful state! Traverse City is a great place. Haven’t been there in a while. Looks like some great eats up there.

  9. Bostwick Lake Inn, Rockford. On a lake, close to home and great food and drink. I come from Greenville.

  10. Grand Rapids…so much to offer, and not just restaurants, and still close enough to go to the beach for the day.

  11. Traverse City has some of the best restaurants. I love going there and want to try them all.

  12. For the best breakfast in Michigan. Need to go to the Golden Harvest in Lansing Michigan
