Looking for a foodie tour? Let Dine Michigan take you on a journey to some of their favorite Pure Michigan restaurants and places to visit.
Starting in Michigan’s southeast region, you might try an amazing coney from one of the historic coney restaurants like American Coney Island before going to a Tigers game in Detroit. Afterwards, try Slows Bar-B-Q for some of the best BBQ anywhere.
Head north and west out of Detroit, and stop in Lansing to see our magnificent Michigan State Capitol and have a unique crafted brew from one of Michigan’s best microbreweries – The Michigan Brewing Company. M.B.C. is the birthplace of our own Kid Rock’s American Badass Lager. While enjoying a beer, why not also take in some of the best and freshest food around right off their menu.
Keep moving west to Grand Rapids, and you will find the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park and The Grand Rapids Art Museum. After your visit, you may be ready for a truly palate-pleasing over-the-top private dining experience at Cygnus 27.
Next, let’s head up north a bit further. You soon will find towns like Pentwater, with great shops that offer a lot more than just tourist trinkets, and restaurants like Gull Landing where you can enjoy amazing food while listening to jazz bands and watch the sailboats drift by.
Keep heading north, cross the mighty Mackinac Bridge, and stop in Sault Sainte Marie. While in the Sault (Soo) be sure to visit the Soo Locks. After you’ve watched some of the freighters pass through, head west and grab a burger from West Pier. It is a small drive-in hidden just off the beaten path which offers one of the best burgers you will ever eat. We recommend you take it to-go and head to Sherman Park. Once there, grab a picnic table, enjoy your burger and watch the ships as they head toward the locks.
Remember–savor every morsel, drink every drop, enjoy Michigan and all our great lakes–they are all refreshingly UNSALTED!!
