The New Year has Gaylord area hospitals looking forward to welcoming the first baby of 2011! The Gaylord Herald Times sponsors the contest and the lucky family will win prizes from local area businesses.

Do you live near the Ludington area or plan to be there for New Year’s? Help reclaim the Guinness World Record for the Most Snow Angels done simultaneously – 9,000 volunteers are needed, so every little bit of support helps!

The Detroit Institute of Arts opened two new exhibits this week – a gallery that will rotate a collection of more than 800 puppets from the Paul McPharlin Puppetry Collection, as well as a gallery featuring Ancient Middle Eastern art. WDET News has audio interviews with the curators of each collection.
