As temperatures drop, it’s the perfect time of year to cozy up with friends and family and enjoy your favorite comfort foods. From the mac and cheese at the Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen to the chicken at Zehnder’s or Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, there are plenty of places to indulge in your favorite comfort dishes across the state – including a few hidden gems.

Tony’s Country Kitchen in Laurium has the world’s best pasty! She could teach that “Left Coaster” on Mackinac Island about how to do a proper job in pasty making.
Copperstone’s in Waterford has a pretty good pasty.
“Gobblers” Restaurant in Gaylord. Thanksgiving day meal everyday..Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, even cranberry!!
Talk about comfort food. And delicious.
LongHorn Steakhouse on Gratiot Ave in Roseville.
We come from Texas and make it a point to eat
there a few times before we return. The food is
fantastic and the ambience I love.
We just had a really good burger at the Bear Bar in Shelby, MI. north of Muskegon.
The Blue Moon in Ludington has the best Eggs Benedict!
The Blue Heron Bakery & Cafe in Cadillac, MI, where they make their own breads, sweet rolls, doughnuts, muffins, and bagels daily. Their salads are fabulous and the daily soup & half-sandwich comes with their fresh bread. The soups are made daily and have delicious flavors and combinations.
Audie’s in Mackinaw City! Everything on their menu is great, and whenever I eat there, I know the next thing I’m doing is getting back in the car to drive across the Mighty Mac to the UP on my way to see the Big Lake. Love it!
As much as I love Soumi , I don’t get there very often being a troll. The absolutely BEST BURGERS are at Bubba’s in TC. The pretzels and mustard are addicting, too!
