Link Roundup - May 6, 2011
Welcome back to Pure Michigan Connect, and this week’s Link Roundup. We are finally starting to see touches of green on the trees, and we’re beginning to feel like spring might actually be arriving! In fact Fort Mackinac, on Mackinac Island opened up for the season, another sure sign of spring. To honor the occasion, this week’s photo is a view taken from the Fort by Melissa Bonello, and can be found on our Flickr page.
- Brewing has a long history of being part of the women’s domain, but at some point that changed, being seen as a “guy thing.” Women are starting to re-enter the brewing industry, and Metro Mode shares their story.
- If that story made you thirsty for a local brew, this next one won’t help! Starting May 14, Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo will be offering free brewery tours! The tours will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, and don’t require a reservation.
- We must congratulate Michigan’s Crystal Mountain Spa Resort for being featured in Health.com’s article about the 10 Most Slimming Vacations! This year they were a runner up, but we are sure that they will make the top 10 next year.
- Walk Friendly Communities has awarded Ann Arbor a Gold Level status. Ann Arbor was the only Michigan town chosen for the list, after evaluating it in several categories related to walking, including safety, mobility, access and comfort.
