Hi Pure Michigan Connect Readers! We found some great news, fun Michigan events, and interesting stories this week, and we wanted to share them with all of you. Enjoy!

Congrats go out to Allen Park native Alice Cooper, who, along with his band, has been nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Once inducted, the famed shock-rocker will join the ranks of other Detroit-area bands including the Stooges, Madonna, Patti Smith, Bob Seger and Motown artists such as Smokey Robinson. What other Michigan artists do you think deserve to be inducted?

To support the current levels of international travelers that stop by Detroit and in an effort to inspire even more to come, a young entrepreneur will open the doors on Michigan’s only official hostel in 2011 in the heart of the Corktown community.

Do the frigid temperatures have you dreaming of a Christmas that’s not so white? Read about a Florida destination that has Michigan ties in this Detroit Free Press article.

Getting excited for the Auto Show? So is Cobo Arena! The Free Press reports that the venue has started making some upgrades in anticipation of January’s VERY popular event.

Everyone deserves some holiday decorations, but c’mon! The beautiful Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor is missing two trees, and officials suspect that folks got a little too “do-it-yourself” when picking out a Christmas tree.
