Hessel, Michigan can be found on the beautiful shores of the Les Cheneaux Islands in the Upper Peninsula, and this Saturday, antique boats will take to the waters in the Straits of Mackinac during the Hessel Antique Boat Show & Festival of Arts, one of the largest of its kind in the nation.
Entries arrive each August from as far away as California and Florida to show their dinghies, rowboats, canoes, launches, sailboats, utilities, runabouts and large cruisers. Restored boats dating back to the early 1900’s are registered for this very unique show.
In addition to the boat show, up to 70 artists are featured in the Festival of Arts, a juried art show offering a diverse selection of quality work that includes jewelry, painting, ceramics, fiber, glass, mixed media and much more.
If you are planning to attend, we would love to see photos from the event, and are interested in publishing a post from someone experiencing this unique festival first-hand. Fill out our guest blogger form, or send an email.
The 2009 event got a little rain, but it looks like it didn’t stop everyone from enjoying the day!
