Pure Michigan wrapped up its shoot for the newest television commercial, “Fresh”. Our own Patrick McHugh talks about the challenges of dealing with the weather, and what Pure Michigan means to him and his crew.
We hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes peek into what its like to make a Pure Michigan commercial. Stay tuned this fall to see “Fresh” on your television screens, with Tim Allen’s amazing narration behind it.
Pure Michigan Weather
Sunny yesterday. Pouring today. So it goes. Since the weather up north today is not cooperating, we’re shooting interiors at country inns, wineries, cheese shops and stables. We’re in the distillery watching the winemakers tapping the casks. We’re in the tasting rooms pouring great wines. We’re baking cherry pies from scratch. We’re making fresh preserves and filling jam pots. And we’re inside the creamery learning how to make homemade, cellar-aged cheese. And if you like live music, Pure Michigan’s got that covered too. Every third Tuesday of the month Black Star Farms has a concert series featuring great local music from bands, like Blue Dirt. Bring your kids and bring your appetite.
North Coast wine country is really something special. It’s on the Leelanau Peninsula in Sutton’s Bay and located on the 45th Parallel that cuts through some of the greatest wine producing areas of the world such as Bordeaux in France, northern Italy and Oregon. The cool climate here is ideal for growing classic grape varietals such as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. If you haven’t been up here yet, fall is a great time for a weekend road trip.
“What does Pure Michigan mean to you?” That’s the question we’ve been asking the cast and crew and new friends we’re making on the “Fresh” production. Bob and Bonnie from Toledo say it’s the view and the wine from Chateau Chantal. “It’s just like the south of France, only a lot closer.” Linda and Judy from Chicago say it’s a tie between the water and the lighthouses. Bella and Kate say it’s running down a 400-foot sand dune. Footie says it’s the fudge. Chris says it’s the sunsets. Ham & Cheese says it’s the fishing. And Biz says it’s the people, “This is where my peeps are, so this is where I want to be.” Now it’s your turn to tell us what Pure Michigan means to you. We’d love to hear about it.
This Just In
Sunshine and blue skies. We’re on the move again to catch one more scenic vista shot of Pure Michigan. The deep blue Grand Traverse Bay is below of us. The rolling green vineyards behind. If happiness is a bowl of cherries, then all this must be Heaven.
Be on the lookout for “Fresh” on your widescreen. And until the next Pure Michigan production, that’s a wrap.
