Tim Allen and Pure Michigan

July 9, 2009

in Pure Michigan Ads

Tim AllenIt’s official! We’re an unbeatable combination!

Today, Tim Allen confirmed what we knew all along – the Pure Michigan Ads are among his best work.  In an article for AdAge published today, Allen talks about his pride in being a Michigander, and his enjoyment in being the voice of Pure Michigan.

Tim Allen’s voice work for the Pure Michigan campaign is one of the key reasons for the campaign’s success.  We don’t think Forbes would have named Pure Michigan one of the All-time 10 Best Tourism Promotion Campaigns Worldwide last week without Tim Allen’s contribution to this effort.

Thanks, Tim, for your dedication over the years.  We couldn’t be more proud to have you as our voice!

I am from Toledo, Ohio whenever I hear these commercials, I stop, visualize what Tim Allen is describing! Makes me want to not just go 15 min into Michigan but to pack up and drive up to the Michigan UP….Let’s go, what are you waiting for? Its Pure Michigan and waiting just for you :)

Love the Pure Michigan Ads! Hope to see more.

I was born and grew up in Michigan – although I haven’t lived there for many years I feel a real sense of pride and nostalgia when I see the beautiful “Pure Michigan” ads.  Tim Allen does a fine job as does the photographer.

He needs to do a relaxation CD, these always make me want to just fall asleep, I love these commercials because I’ve been to most of the places too and can picture them.

Many thanks to Tim Allen, his voice is so smooth and mesmorizing in these ads, I love Michigan!

I can’t agree enough with all the great comments about Michigan. The Pure Michigan promotion campaign is fantastic, and it’s so true! We moved to Roscommon to purchase and operate a canoe livery on the South Branch of the AuSable. The river is so pristine, as are the surrounding lakes. We couldn’t be happier with wonderful Northern Michigan and its friendly people Charlene – Campbell’s Canoe Livery

im from nyc but those pure michigan ads just drew me in completely. the music from the cider house rules, tims voice, the beautiful visuals and the messages of slowing things and simplicity beckon the part of me yearning for that.
in these fast paced times with everyone always busy, stressed, overtired…it no surprise we all love these commercials so much…

60 heidi June 14, 2012 at 9:53 am

Every time I hear one of the Pure Michigan commercials it’s like a mini vacation away from my busy day…I can picture in my mind all the wonderful locations Tim is talking about and for a moment or two my mind wanders to the beach and the surf rolling in on my beautiful Lake Michigan. Thanks Tim….love your voice!! Thanks Pure Michigan for getting everyone else to enjoy our wonderful state!!

I have to fight tears every time I see or hear one of the commercials. They are so well done!  I love our state and these commercials show the best our state has to offer.

Having graduated High School from Interlochen Arts Academy,in Interlochen, MI (just south of Traverse City) I have fallen in love with Michigan.  And every time I hear Tim Allen’s voice and the places he takes on the the “Pure Michigan” commercials I am brought back to those awesome places that were my home for a few years.  And now, celebrating our 40th reunion, I go back once a year to reconnect with my dear friends, to join under the stately pines, the crystal, clear,  blue green waters, the towering 450 ft. sand dunes, and the peacefulness that we left behind us.  Thank you Tim for your voice in these commercials.  I didn’t know that was YOU!

Very sincerely ~ Char

OMG…never realized the voice was Tim’s.  I absolutely love the commercials and love Tim Allen.  Kudos for getting him to voice the ads.  Love this state!!

65 Asalzburger June 20, 2012 at 1:50 pm

I’m proud to be a native of Michigan (now living as a Hoosier) every time I see these commercials.  You could definitely market a collection of these on  DVD.  I love watching them. The scenes are just as I remember them. Keep up the good work!

66 Debster60_48064 June 22, 2012 at 8:05 pm

I love these commercials.  I stop whatever I am doing just to listen, and if I am in the car I crank it up louder.  Last week I was in San Antonio, Texas and one of these commercials came on the television.  I was so excited.  Thank you for some awesome ads.

I grew up in Michigan and now live in Virginia. The Pure Michigan commercials are simply breath taking and always take me back to my memories of living there. My husband and I spent our college summers working at the Murray Hotel on Mackinac Island. Our friends in Virginia and Baltimore are now planning vacations to Michigan after seeing these commercials and hearing our tales.

70 Suzan July 5, 2012 at 10:40 am

Tim Allen has been therapy for me.  I live in Florida and miss my Michigan so much.  I’ve lived in several areas of the state, and there is none like it.  We always enjoyed the outdoors and explored so much of the state.  I really miss “home” and when I hear Tim and the Pure Michigan commercials, nostalgia gets me.  Seeing all the pictures of “Pure Michigan”, keeps my memories fresh.  Keep up the great work, Tim, and keep all of us Michiganders attached.  There’s no place like home, and there’s no voice like that of Tim Allen.  Thank you.

I truly love these Pure Michigan commercials; they are works of art.      Relatives of mine, native to MI, now living elsewhere in the US have fallen in love with them, and are aching to come back ‘home’ to pure Michigan.     Whoever created these has “pure” genius.     Keep them coming!!!!!!!!!!!!

72 Mary Crecelius July 9, 2012 at 3:49 pm

I have visited the islands 3 times and have had a wonderful time on all three.  My husband and I were there several years ago when our daughter was around12 years old and we sure enjoyed all of it.  Then we came back twice with Toby Tours.  My girl friend, Georgia Dee Colin and I on the last trip and we finally got to see the Lilacs in bloom, I have some beautiful pictures of them all in bloom.  If I ever get the chance to come up there again I probably will.

73 Gowith5k July 10, 2012 at 11:48 am

76 Dmcinaz July 17, 2012 at 10:47 am

Love those ads and while I spend most of the year in Scottsdale AZ, I return to Leland for summer at the lake! The Pure Michigan ads help me feel not so far from home!

77 Dan Fuoco July 19, 2012 at 9:19 am

The “Pure Michigan” advertisements are absolutely stunning and reflect the state perfectly. With the right balance of description, music and messaging, the Pure Michigan campaign has notably taken off and garnered apt recognition. These ads make me proud to be Pure Michigan.

78 Chris July 30, 2012 at 1:38 pm

I have been meaning to post for some time now, but… anyway, we live in Windsor, Ontario and just hearing of Michigan in these commercials is great. We have visited many of these destinations before and each time I hear the commercials it takes you right back just as you are there in person.  It is a perfect marketing campaign, very well thought out, excellent celebrity pick, Tim Allen is perfect, being from Michigan.  Well done people, great job!  Too bad others are now copying (Illinois).

This web site can be a stroll-through for all of the data you wished about this and didn’t know who to ask. Glimpse right here, and also you’ll definitely discover it.

I’ve never been one to really get into advertising but there is just SOMETHING about these ads that get me. I LOVE them. Great great job Michigan and Tim Allen!

81 Kris Tennant August 8, 2012 at 9:43 pm

I absolutely love these ads. I believe they are fabulous and create the most soothing feelings. I believe these are some of my most favorite advertisements ever! Great job Michigan!

82 PatriciaFerrick September 11, 2012 at 4:45 pm

I am a native Michigander.  I now live in Rhode Island another beautiful state…but every year I pack up the kids and the dogs and we go to enjoy Pure Michigan as I remember it.  We all look forward to our annual trip and I love sharing this state with my family.  Pure Michigan ads choke me up.  I always stop to watch each one.  I am so glad they air out here so I can enjoy each one.  Keep it up…

83 Franceset September 23, 2012 at 9:25 pm

I recently watched “Gasland” a docmentary that made me wonder if “Fracking” was in MIchigan and to my disappointment it is already here.   The first frack wells are being permitted in state forests and on private lands in Kalkaska, Missaukee, Cheboygan, Ogemaw, Hillsdale, Roscommon and Gladwin Counties including Yankee Springs. We need to keep “Pure Michigan” exactly that.
Find out where you can sign a petition in your area to ban “Fracking” in Michigan because if it isn’t in your back yard already it will be.  See websites:  banmichiganfracking.org; http://www.LetsBanFracking.org
Â
Tim Allen we need your voice in this campaign as well!

OMG, the pure Michigan ads make me weep, and my heart sing.
born there, moved away, lived there again long ago, and not back in many years, my boyfriend took me to his cottage on lake Michigan,Epworth Heights in Ludington, I rounded the corner, saw the lake, and burst into tears, my heart said you are home!!!!the most wonderful time of my life was spent back there in Michigan, for one week, that has forever changed me.
Longing. pining, dying to go back….the ads are small fixes to keep me going till I can return. There is something so magical about Michigan, I give God a 10 for making the perfect place.

85 KK April 4, 2013 at 11:57 pm

I too am a Michigander now living in Iowa so to move to San Antonio, TX. I love the Pure Michigan ads and relive all the familiar locations shown throughout the ads. I did not realize Tim Allen was the voice of the ad and writing today to obtain information about the music of Pure Michigan? Every time I hear it I relive all those memorable moments of many trips to Mackinaw Island, Greenfield Village, Traverse City, Detroit Art Museum, and many more. It you would be so kind to share the name of the music of the ads it would be appreciated.

Grew up in Tawas City, Michigan and traveled all through the U.P. and northern Michigan with my family until I joined the Marine Corps in 1983. I knew that I missed the season changes through the years, but now living in Las Vegas and seeing the ads on TV makes me want to go back and spend a year or two just traveling through the state and revisiting all those spots I first discovered as a child.

87 Cheryl April 9, 2013 at 7:56 pm

Like most everyone else, I get mesmerized and nearly weepy whilst watching or even hearing Tim Allen narrating a Pure Michigan ad. They’re practically magical, as is this beautiful state! Oh lucky me, I live here!

88 Karen April 20, 2013 at 12:44 pm

Tim Allen and the photography of the Pure Michigan ads make me want to go there! Tim Allen’s voice ads “Pure” enticement to the Michigan landscape. He does such an absolutely fabulous, wonderful job with his “Pure” awesome voice! I don’t think there are adequate words to effectively describe what is so wonderful about his voice. I guess I don’t need to, you just need to listen to him!! “Pure” natural talent!

89 Pam Shaylor April 20, 2013 at 11:38 pm

Just found out that it’s Tim Allen’s voice for the Pure Michigan commerials. Just saw one on the television and told my husband how comforting and relaxing those ads are. Being from Massachusetts, I guess I just might have to pack my bags and go visit that beautiful state of Michigan. Thanks, Tim; you can really sell your state !!!!
