Fort Gratiot Lighthouse

Fort Gratiot Lighthouse
Tour Michigan’s oldest working lighthouse. The lighthouse was built, in 1814. Today, the lighthouse is completely automated, after more than 170 years since the first light was exhibited at Fort Gratiot a silent sentinel still beams out to guide a new generation of mariners. In 1971 the Michigan Historical Commission named Fort Gratiot Lighthouse, a Historical Site.

Huron Lightship Museum

Huron Lightship Museum
Enjoy a first hand look at how sailors lived and worked on board the lightship. Lightships were floating lighthouses, anchored in areas that were too deep, expensive or impractical to construct a lighthouse. In 1989 the Huron Lightship was designated a National Historical Landmark, the only lightship on the Great Lakes to be so honored.

Over 3,000 floaters participated in the first annual Float Down. Port Huron’s beaches and parks offer that perfect beach bum day away. Visit Lighthouse or Lakeside beach and parks both have picnic facilities, playground areas and the most beautiful beaches to spend your day.
