Kaleva was founded by Finnish immigrants in 1900.  Many of the street names were taken from an epic poem "Kalevala".  The early settlers took great pride in their cultural heritage. Kaleva hosts the Northern Michigan Dragway races in summer and is in the heart of snowmobiling country during the winter. Home to one of Michigan's most active snowmobile clubs with 125 miles of registered, marked, groomed trails. Visit the Bottle Museum, The Depot and Asiala Park.
