Topinabee "The Jewell of the North" is located on beautiful Mullett Lake. The lake is one of the largest inland lakes in Michigan and connects to Lake Huron via the Cheboygan River. The hiking, biking and snowmobile North Central trail that runs from Gaylord to Mackinaw City runs through Topinabee. It is a historic resort town that was developed in the 1800's by people accessing the area via the railroad. The community is on the famous inland waterway  Mullet and Burt Lakes. Crooked and Pickeral Lakes are also part of the waterway. The lakes are connected by the Crooked, Indian and Cheboygan Rivers. The inland waterway traverses 48 miles from one end of the waterway to the other. It is currently a center for boating, swimming, fishing, snowmobiling, hiking and biking in Northern Michigan. This small resort welcomes visitors year around.
