The 13th annual MATE (Marine Advanced Technology Education) International Competition will take place June 26-28, 2014, at the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary in Alpena, Michigan, USA. The MATE Center uses underwater robots – also known as remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), to teach science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and prepare students for technical careers. During the event, 60 teams of students from middle, high and home schools, after-school clubs, community colleges, and universities from all over the world to compete with underwater robots that they engineered and constructed.
