The winter festival, which always kicks off with Thom Eno playing a tough tune on a sharp, cold, steel instrument (the saw), is scheduled for February 22nd and is designed to give families something to do on a cold winter Saturday in Michigan. Many of the events are held outside and the weather is always a challenge to stay ahead of. In the past, various groups have sponsored activities like the Polar Plunge Challenge, the 5K Chill, and of course the Decorated Toilet Seat Contest. The Outhouse races will run no matter what the weather! There is also plenty going on inside at the Coopersville Farm Museum & Event Center: the Chili Cook-off, live music, and kid’s crafts and activities. Most of the activities throughout the day and into the evening are free or low cost. This is an outing the whole family can enjoy–close to home, affordable, and fun.
