"Remember the Raisin on the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of the Thames & the Death of Tecumseh" on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the River Raisin National Battlefield Park. Events start at 11am and repeat at 1pm. Hear Shawnee Chief Tecumseh’s riveting speech given shortly before he was killed at the Battle of the Thames on October 5, 1813. Tecumseh will be portrayed by Genot Picor, a descendant of the Huron-Wendat of Lourette, Quebec. Join First Lady Dolley Madison where you will hear her version of the War of 1812, and learn about the Presidents and First Ladies through their portraits. Children in Dolley’s Drawing Room create your own masterpiece which could possibly be featured on a poster at the new White House Visitor Center.
