Romeo and Juliet - Dance Performance
The spring 2014 dance season closes with the Joffrey Ballet's Romeo and Juliet, following its U.S. and company premiere earlier that year. Created in 2008 for the Scottish Ballet, Polish National Ballet director Krzysztof Pastor's modern retelling of Shakespeare's classic is set in Italy and spans three eras of the 20th century. The production features drama, power, and timeless themes of love and loss in one darkly intense ballet, with choreography set against a multi-media backdrop to Sergei Prokofiev's dramatic score.
