A very special event at the museum on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m.- an event dedicated to Gen. George A. Custer and his battle flags. Fran Faile will present a program on her recent professional conservation work on the museum's Custer swallowtail guidon, used while he led the Michigan Cavalry Brigade during the Civil War. The Custer personal guidon has been in conservation for several months and is due to go back on display. Following Ms. Faile's presentation, George Armstrong Custer IV, namesake descendant of George's brother Nevin Custer, will present a program on the various flags carried by Gen. Custer throughout his military career. After this program, the guidon and its new exhibit will be dedicated. A great event during 2016 Custer Week in Monroe! Free and open to the public.
