In 1881 fire swept across Michigan’s thumb, devastating several communities and Michigan’s economy in the process. Join historian and teacher William Watson (Jackson College) as he discusses the history of the fire, its effects on Michigan, the nation, and environmental policy in conjunction with statewide Earth Day activities. Tickets $15/person at the door before the event (or at the website link). Includes tour of the historic Whaley House in Flint, Michigan (where event takes place).
