An icy princess, forced by her father to choose a suitor, ruthlessly eliminates all who fail to correctly answer her puzzling riddles. After meeting the princess, Prince Calaf decides in a moment of passion that he has fallen in love with her, and will doom himself to the riddles and almost certain death.
