St. Joseph, MI 49085
Waves into the Night begins its inaugural appearance as a concert series held at Shadowland Pavilion, on the St. Joseph River at Silver Beach on Lake Michigan. Waves into the Night is a celebratory affair sounding into the air brass, percussion, organ chord progressions and soulful vocals that encourage attendees to dance, groove and toast to the night. Headlined by two of the Midwest’s highly lauded bands, the New Sound Underground (WI) and Chicago Afrobeat Project (IL), this is sure to be a night to remember, as we wind down the final days of summer sunshine. Chicago Afrobeat Project is a seven- to 14-piece world music ensemble with members that are well-versed in the musical style of Fela Kuti. With many influences, including afrobeat, Afro-Cuban, funk, jazz, jùjú music, and rock, this band is surely going to get the crowd moving and shaking to the rhythms! New Sound Underground's influences include such instrumental music heavyweights as Soulive, Weather Report, The RH Factor & Snarky Puppy. This is a family-friendly event for all ages! Beer Garden tickets (admission and beverage) will be sold cash only at the event entrance day of show. Bring chairs, but no coolers or carry ins. Children under 5 are free! Admission: $10-$15 ($10 lawn, $15 limited seating).
