On Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21 the museum will host its “Wood Shaving Days” Festival from 10am to 4pm. Visitors can take in the sights, sounds, and scents of the historic steam powered sawmill cutting logs into pine boards, listen to traditional music, and enjoy the art of wood carving, wood burning and other woodcrafters. There will also be demonstrations by blacksmiths, weavers and wool spinners and a historic surveying reenactment. Phone for more details at (989) 348-2537. There are no admission fees to these programs; however a Michigan State Parks Recreation Passport is required for park entry. A $11 Recreation Passport is required for entering State Parks, Recreation Areas, State Forest Campgrounds, Non-motorized Trail Head Parking and Boat Launches. Recreation Passports can be purchased when renewing your State of Michigan license plate tabs or at state parks and recreation areas.
