The excitement of world class racing returns once again to scenic Belle Isle Park with the 2013 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. Held May 31-June 2, 2013.
The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix returns to the Motor City May 31-June 2, 2013 with three days of world-class auto racing, live music, interactive games and displays all on beautiful Belle Isle Park. The fastest weekend of the summer features cars from the IZOD IndyCar Series, the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and the Pirelli World Challenge Championship Series.
Catch the racing action on the newly configured 2.3 mile street course at the Raceway at Belle Isle Park. This year, Belle Isle will host the first IndyCar doubleheader race weekend with full championship races on both Saturday and Sunday in the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit.
Friday, May 31 is “Free Prix Day” with admittance to the Paddock free of charge. See the cars close-up and take in the IZOD IndyCar Series practice and qualifying, GRAND-AM Rolex Series practice and qualifying, Pirelli World Challenge Series practice.
Saturday, June 1, features the Cadillac V-Series Challenge, the Chevrolet GRAND-AM 200 and the 70 lap Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit. Fans won’t want to miss the IZOD IndyCar Series and GRAND-AM Rolex Series drivers’ autograph sessions in the morning.
On the last day of the Grand Prix, Sunday, June 2, enjoy the Pirelli World Challenge drivers’ autograph session and the IZOD IndyCar Series warm-up. Wrap up the weekend with the second 70 laps of the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit and IZOD IndyCar Series post-race ceremonies.
Not a race fan? There are plenty ways for everyone to experience and enjoy at the Grand Prix. The MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage will feature live entertainment all weekend long, including performances by Bret Michaels and Plain White T’s.
While you’re in town for the weekend, take some time to explore Detroit, the city that put the world on wheels. From the tastes and sounds to the sights and culture Detroit is the Motor City. Stop in at the Detroit Institute of Arts or walk the Detroit International Riverfront. Explore Belle Isle highlights, like the aquarium, Scott Fountain and the botanical garden in the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory. Just up the road at The Henry Ford automotive enthusiasts can discover America’s premier automobile exhibit Driving America, or the manufacturing experience of the Ford Rouge Factory Tour.
