    Attractions
    Marquette County was founded and developed because of its rich deposits of iron ore, the area’s history runs deep from mining and maritime attractions, including a new Iron Ore Heritage trail and $4.5 million state-of-the-art Regional History Museum that opened in 2010. Visit the Maritime Museum, take in a play at the lakefront, catch a freighter at the docks or enjoy a harbor cruise, take an Anatomy of a Murder tour to experience the myriad of the area’s rich history and culture.

    Within five minutes of stepping out the door, recreation can be found and enjoyed. From biking, hiking or rock climbing to ATV-riding, hunting or fishing or simply sunbathing at the beach there is something for everyone, we are here to satisfy your human nature.

    Regional cuisine can be experienced at many of the area restaurants. Downtown Marquette restaurants are housed in a variety of historic buildings, featuring everything from fresh whitefish and trout, steaks, pasta, pizza, sandwiches and bakery items as well as ethnic specialties. On Saturdays in the summer enjoy the Farmer’s Marquette at The Commons and if local beer is of interest, be sure to check out the bustling microbrewery scene.
