    Wine grapes grow in beautiful places. Most of Michigan's quality wine grapes grow within 25 miles of Lake Michigan. Here, the "lake effect" protects the vines with snow in winter and moderates air temperatures to keep vines cool in summer and extend the growing season. Lucky for the Michigan traveler – most of the state's wineries are located in these areas. Michigan is home to more than 100 wineries and 120 tasting rooms located across the state. From the Lake Michigan shore to the Sunrise Coast, from the Upper Peninsula to the state line, you can enjoy a wide variety of award-winning wines. With red, white, dry, sweet, sparkling and fruit wines to choose from, you’re sure to find a new favorite.
