LaughFest is a festival of comedy, performance and very funny stuff. This 10-day event, March 6 - 16, 2014, draws thousands to the Grand Rapids area for riotous A-List comedy acts, clean comedy showcases, improv and sketch comedy and stand up competitions. The best part? The vast majority of the events and shows are free.
This year's headliners include Lily Tomlin, Chris Tucker, Sinbad, 30 Rock's Judah Friedlander and as the signature event Jay Leno. For those with a competitive streak, be sure and catch the Best of the Midwest Competition with some of the hottest Midwest comedians competing for a $2,500 cash prize.
Venues around Grand Rapids include DeVos Performance Hall, GRCC Ford Fieldhouse, The B.O.B. and the Wealthy Theater.
Want to see your neighbor or co-worker show off their comedic talents before a live audience? LaughFest will feature more than 100 community showcases and other non-ticketed, free events at various locations in downtown Grand Rapids, Lowell and Holland. Categories for showcases include stand-up comedy, music, short-film, sketch/improv, dance and kids' jokes. Plans include hosting a festival favorite, "Kids Joke Night," in all three cities.
