When November 15 rolls around some hunters head to Michigan’s woods and fields in search of their white tailed trophy, while “deer widows” engage in a hunt of their own, with a target of shopping bargains, spa weekends, winery tours and more.
Michigan is known by snowmobilers nationwide for its unique combination of abundant and dependable snow, exciting terrain and extensive trail network. More than 6,100 miles of designated snowmobile trails are located throughout the state in six state forests, three national forests and many acres of privately owned lands. Michigan is one of only three states that offer a large system of interconnected snowmobile trails.
Chill out at fun winter festivals and events designed to make the most of the snow and yes, even the cold temperatures required for ice fishing, for sculpting larger-than-life ice and snow sculptures and for “Polar Bear” dips into icy waters.
For most, memories of Michigan’s crown jewel, Mackinac Island, include warm sunny days strolling along Main Street, the clip clop of horses taking visitors from around the world to the various attractions on the island.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Michigan Decembers are festive, eventful and fun. From holiday-themed events to winter celebrations, there is something for everyone no matter where you are in the state.
