Summer has arrived, bringing with it a luscious bounty of delicious fruits and vegetables all across Michigan. Farmers markets are brimming as Michigan’s always vibrant food scene gets richer by the day. From now till harvest time, you’ll find many events that celebrate Michigan’s agricultural produce. Check out our sampling of food and wine celebrations happening over the next month.
Three foodie festivals that you’ll want to check out include the National Asparagus Festival in Hart on June 11-13, National Strawberry Festival in Belleville on June 18-20, and Leland Wine and Food Festival in Leland’s Fishtown district on June 12. These events boast great family fun, parades, crafts and tantalizing food.
Don’t forget that June 20 is Father’s Day and Michigan offers great outdoor opportunities as great gifts for him. Take dad to Dining on the Fly on June 26, where he can learn to fly fish and enjoy a five course meal prepared by the Boathouse Grill in Traverse City.
If your dad is more of a car guy, take him to the Lemon Creek Winery Father’s Day Festival & Car Show in Berrien Springs on June 20, or Great Lakes Wine Fest on June 26-27 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn to sample local wine, beer and food.
