Art Happenings

Michigan is home to one of the world’s great art museums, the Detroit Institute of Arts, as well as several smaller and well-respected arts and crafts galleries including those in Ann Arbor, Flint, Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Traverse City. But not all works of art are confined to traditional museum settings, or to permanent exhibits. There are art and crafts shows and fairs, outdoor sculpture exhibits, art trails and an innovative competition designed to allow the public to choose the winner of the world’s largest art prize. Here’s a sampling of exciting Michigan art happenings and craft shows.
