On the heels of being named Beer City USA for a second straight year, Grand Rapids is serving up another round of Cool Brews. Hot Eats.
From February 17 – March 1, visitors and locals can enjoy delicious specialty dishes conceived to showcase locally crafted beers and hard ciders. Creative chefs at 55+ area restaurants and breweries have been tinkering with recipes all year long in a bid to top the incredible success of last winter’s inaugural Cool Brews. Hot Eats. promotion.
There’s only one rule chefs must follow: all dishes must be prepared with and/or paired with beer or hard cider. Luckily, chefs don’t have to venture far for inspiration – Grand Rapids is home to more than 30 breweries and cider mills, including Founders Brewing Co., named the world’s 3rd best brewery, and HopCat, America’s #1 brewpub.
Last year’s creations ranged from a hamburger topped with beer-infused cheese to a stout brownie sundae. What will this year bring? Visit the Experience Grand Rapids blog in the coming weeks for exclusive sneak peeks!
There are a bunch of other beer festivities you can partake of while you’re here. Take a self-guided tour of the 30+ breweries on the Beer City Ale Trail. Get behind-the-scenes tours of Founders Brewing Co., Brewery Vivant and Schmohz Brewery. If you’re into homebrewing, stop by Siciliano’s Market, named the best beer grocer in the U.S.
There are so many things to sip, taste and do, you may want to book a hotel for a multi-day stay. Browse a list of area hotels – and pay special attention to the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and JW Marriott Grand Rapids, recently named to Condé Nast Traveler’s list of top 10 Midwest hotels.
