Cool Opportunities for Sportswomen

Now you can hunt, fish, backpack, shoot and canoe like a pro. Becoming an Outdoors-Woman programs offer a mix of outdoor skills over a three-day workshop format in an outdoorsy atmosphere, with supportive instructors where fun and camaraderie are part of the package. Designed for the novice, all equipment is provided.

The reason fewer women participate in hunting, fishing, backpacking and canoeing is because they have not had an opportunity to learn the outdoor skills that are necessary to enjoy these activities. But, women are interested in learning these skills and when the opportunity is offered, they are lining up in greater numbers for the chance to be involved.

Since 1991, when the first "Becoming an Outdoors-Woman" program was developed, BOW workshops have expanded to 44 states and nine Canadian provinces, with many offering multiple programs throughout the year.

Now, you can become part of this growing trend. Sign-up for an upcoming workshop today. For more details, visit the Michigan Department of Natural Resources' Becoming an Outdoors Woman and get involved..
