The theatre season begins in September with the Broadway in Detroit series at the Fisher Theatre, and the Michigan Opera Theatre and Detroit Symphony Orchestra 2010-11 season openers in October. Likewise the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, now celebrating its 90th season, and the Grand Rapids Symphony, a cultural asset since 1930. As the seasons turn historic venues such as the oldest continuously running theater in the state, Adrian’s 1866 Croswell Opera House, the Ramsdell Theatre in Manistee, also launch their new programs of live performances. On September 16 in Muskegon the Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts (formerly the Michigan Theater) celebrates its 80th anniversary with cake and old movies at the 1930 admission price of 50 cents.
