Go wild for Halloween this year at a local zoo where kids can dress up and visit with the animals with a lot of fun along the way. For southeastern Michigan families, head to the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak for the annual Zoo Boo (October 15-17, 22-24, and 29-31). New this year, kids get 3-D glasses to watch the limited-release swashbuckling adventure “The Curse of Skull Rock” at the Wild Adventure 3D/4D Theater. The Ghouly Games Tent, Zombie Zone and the Haunted Reptile House will be filled with entertainment, activities and goblins.
The Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek now has two new baby Red Pandas and also will play host to the Great Zoo Boo from October 15 to October 31 (check ahead for times and specific dates). Kids wind their way through a dedicated trick-or-treat trail and enjoy magicians, storytellers, pirate shows plus a carnival, hayride and carousel.
The Zoo Goes Boo at the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids October 16, 22, 23 and 29. Have fun with the animals plus live entertainment, goodies and activities for kids. For members only the Monster Mash is scheduled for October 28 and 29.
Little ghouls and boys are welcome to Lansing’s Potter Park Zoo for Boo at the Zoo on October 23 and 24. There will be plenty of activities and treats. Bring your camera to snap a shot of your favorite scarecrow from the several contest entries on display through October 31.
Children’s Zoo at Celebration Square in Saginaw will host the Halloween Harvest Zoo Boo October 22-24 with treats, entertainment, a train and carousel ride and more. On October 29 a more adult ghoulish event, Witches Brew at the Zoo, will include hors d'oeuvres, wine and brew along with the Zoo's creepy and crawly critters.
