In a place named Beer City, USA, you can’t help but celebrate all things hops and malt. That’s why, this season, Grand Rapids is cooking up their newest winter food & beer promotion, Cool Brews. Hot Eats.
From February 18 – March 2, visitors and locals can bask in the wonder of beer as they experience a whole new world of dishes offered at over 55 participating restaurants and breweries. Better yet, each of these dishes has been specially crafted for the promotion by passionate local chefs, all to showcase one star ingredient— beer.
Inspired by an award-winning collection of local craft brews, chefs at each restaurant approached the challenge differently, either by pairing with beer or preparing with beer. That type of great inspiration isn’t hard to come by when you’re home to the third best brewery in the world, Founders Brewing Co., the number one brewpub in the United States, HopCat, and were voted one of the Top 10 Best Vacation Cities for Beer Lovers!
From a 5-ounce Hawaiian “Gangnam Style” Opah inspired by the popular song to a Drunken Cow Burger with beer-infused cheese and even a stout brownie sundae, it’s clear that Grand Rapids’ local chefs approached this as a no-beers-barred experiment! You can check out the My Experience Grand Rapids Blog each week leading up to the promotion for exclusive chef interviews and insider features on what they’re cooking up.
As if your mouth isn’t watering enough already, you can also enjoy the many other beer and food festivities that remain on the Grand Rapids menu throughout the year. See how things are done in Beer City, USA with insider guided facility tours of both Founders and Brewery Vivant held every Saturday, or sip your way to beer bliss along a self-guided craft beer tour of over a dozen local breweries!
