Santa Claus is coming to towns all across Michigan. Meet Kris Kringle and his reindeer Holly at Dowagiac’s Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration November 18-20, where the streets are decorated with garlands and bows, carolers entertain and shopkeepers offer refreshment and holiday merchandise.
Saginaw celebrates Holidays in the Heart of the City November 18 with a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus. More than 1,200 luminaries light the street with a cookie house competition, free holiday concert and pony rides, and fireworks to cap the evening off.
Santa will be taking a Pure Michigan road trip November 19, appearing in the Midland Santa Holiday Parade, the Hudsonville Holiday Parade and the World’s Shortest Parade in Grayling.
Detroit welcomes Santa Claus with America’s Thanksgiving Parade – a tradition since 1924. One of the nation’s oldest holiday parades, it features giant balloons, floats, marching bands and celebrities along with the popular Turkey Trot fun run before the event.
On December 1, Santa joins the mayor of Marquette to light the city holiday tree and then travels to downtown Traverse City for Santa’s Arrival & Holiday Open House, December 2, with the holiday tree lighting, music, horse and carriage rides and a unique shopping experience.
