The 127th season will introduce the new Sadie’s Ice Cream Parlor near the recently-renovated east entrance to Grand Hotel off Cadotte Street, where Margaret’s Garden was formerly located. The ice cream parlor will feature Michigan-made Hudsonville Ice Cream. Named for Sadie, the Scottish Terrier owned by Dan and Amelia Musser, who won ‘Best in Show’ at the 2010 Westminster Dog Show. Sadie’s will be open to all Mackinac Island guests.
Margaret’s Garden has moved into the hotel’s lower lobby across from Grand Hotel & Co., the hotel’s jewelry store and Astor’s Salon and Spa. The design of the open-air flower shop was inspired by ‘My Fair Lady’ and will continue to provide flower arrangements throughout the hotel, the Main Dining Room, hotel guest rooms and will provide flowers to more than 100 weddings at the hotel.
The season also features exciting new weekend packages, including the Grand Garden Show taking place August 25-27. The hotel is partnering with Proven Winners, the world’s number one plant brand, for a program that will feature television host P. Allen Smith, hands on demonstrations and seminars, exclusive garden tours of Mackinac Island residences, and evening receptions.
Grand Hotel offers more than 25 packages and specials celebrating family, the holidays, the arts, golf, wine appreciation, history and more. In addition, all overnight guests during the 2013 season will receive free admission to the Richard and Jane Manoogian Mackinac Art Museum.
