Rev up your engines and head for Michigan’snowmobile trails. With nearly six million acres of state and federal lands and hundreds of miles of private trails, snowmobile owners have plenty of options to enjoy the beauty of Michigan’s winter wonderland.
Michigan is known by snowmobilers nationwide for its unique combination of abundant and dependable snow, exciting terrain and extensive trail network. More than 6,100 miles of designated snowmobile trails are located throughout the state in state forests, national forests and many acres of privately owned lands. Michigan is one of only three states that offer a large system of interconnected snowmobile trails.
Before you head out, be sure to check snowmobile trail conditions. Never been on a snowmobile but want to try it this winter? There are several snowmobile rental companies throughout the state. One of the best ways to get started in the sport is with Michigan’s more than 125 snowmobile clubs for group trips, safety classes and special events. Some clubs have private clubhouses to warm up before and after the ride. Contact the Michigan Snowmobile Association for details.
