New this season at Pine Mountain Resort in Iron Mountain, is a paddle tow for the "Bone Yard" terrain park. A paddle tow is like a rope tow with handles and is also supported off the ground so riders don't have to support the weight of a rope. A rope tow was added to the beginner hill and a new run, called “Here to There” was added to now give the resort 27 runs.
Blackjack Resort in Bessemer will be open again for the second season with new ownership. Marquette Mountain is opening a new terrain park this year.
Mount Bohemia in the Keweenaw Peninsula is for advanced skiers and out weighs any other Midwest resort in terrain and conditions. Bohemia can be compared to out west skiing because of its challenging terrain, steep, continuous pitch and powder producing microclimate. Mount Bohemia has added six new ski runs. The biggest addition is in the Extreme Backcountry. This new glade will be located on previously undeveloped terrain between two of the most popular glade runs, Woodpeckers Hollow and the Badlands. This new run will be the longest individual glade run on the mountain.
For variety, ski all season long at Mount Bohemia and Porcupine Mountain for just $124. Passes can be purchased online, by phone or in person on December 4 at either Porcupine Mountain or Mount Bohemia. Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Bessemer has been recognized for the second year in a row as having the "Best Downhill Terrain" in the Midwest by OnTheSnow.com. New this year is the tubing park located between the main lodge and the Caribou lodge.
