A Dove Nest is a quiet retreat like setting that is secluded and full of wildlife. The home and its 112 acres of rolling hills, open fields, woods, trails and wetlands, rests on the shores of English Lake in the heart of Michigan's thumb area. A Dove Nest Bed and Breakfast has many areas left in a natural environment. The land provides food and shelter for all of the wildlife and also hay for the nine horses that live at the farm. There are several varieties of plants and wildflowers that are protected or endangered including Trillium, Yellow Ladies Slippers, Tall Green Milkweed, and Sullivant's Milkweed. The land also produces the wild fruits and berries used to make some of the jams, jellies and syrups served with our home cooked hearty country breakfast. We also serve maple syrup and honey from local producers. A Dove Nest started out as a dream of Innkeepers Bob & Theresa (Terry) Dove. The first drawings of the future log home were done on a napkin during a lunch break at work. "We knew the home had to be something unique to do honor to the property". The result is a beautiful marriage of property and a structure built from 100 year old 14 -16 inch diameter full length Michigan Pine logs. Travel easy from major metro areas, you can choose major highways or Michigan back roads. Let the heart of Michigan's Thumb Area be your new "up north" and rediscover yourself, enjoy nature, wildlife & sunsets over private English Lake.
