Hiawatha National Forest
There are 24 campsites settled beneath red and white pine, oak, maple, and white birch trees, and just a few steps from the sandy beach. Tables and fire rings are at each site. Drinking water and toilets are conveniently spaced throughout the campground. Bay View Campground has a camp host during the summer months. This scenic site provides an opportunity to camp along the shores of Lake Superior - "By the shores of Gitche Gumme, by the Shining Big-Sea-Waters." Experience miles of sandy beach and beautiful sunsets across Lake Superior, the greatest single body of fresh water in the world. Listen carefully, you may hear the woeful cry of a loon early in the evening. Relax and enjoy the sights and sounds that early explorers once enjoyed. Open May 12 to October 16.
