Bethany Lutheran Indian Cemetery

Riverside Drive,
St. Louis, MI 48880
In Gratiot County, 100 Chippewa Indians lived in bark huts in a small village located along the Pine River about two miles downstream from the future site of St. Louis. This site became known to white settlers as Indiantown. In 1871 a forest fire destroyed what was left of the village. All that remained of the settlement was the cemetery.
