Welcome to the only prison exhibit/museum that's within the walls of an operating facility. As you arrive, you'll pass through the same gates that convicts entered as they took a last look at freedom... often for years, decades, or even life. When you feel the heavy steel door slam shut, it's like no other door you've heard before. This is the door that separates you from the rest of the world; the door that will keep you locked away. On the inside. It's hard to imagine how it feels to spend your days confined to a small cell. To be told when to sleep, to rise, to bathe, to eat, to work. Countless convicts have risked their lives to escape. They've climbed over walls, tunneled under walls; one even made off in a helicopter - right from this prison. While you're spending time at Cell Block Seven, you won't have to try to imagine prison life; you'll feel it, experience it; and it's as close to prison as you'll ever want to get. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
