Education Oak-Historical Marker, Marshall Middle School

A stately oak was the location chosen by the Rev. John Pierce and Isaac Crary for their discussions of the founding of the education system for the territory that was to become Michigan. A statue of the founders of public education was carved from the original oak tree. Open during the school year, September through June. Free admission.
