The International Velodrome at Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills is one of only 26 velodromes in North America. A velodrome is an oval bicycle riding track, and the IVBP is 1/8 mile / 200 M long and banked 44 degrees in the corners. Only fixed-gear bicycles (no gears, no brakes!) are allowed on the wooden track. It was completely renovated in 2013.
The International Velodrome at Bloomer Park is the home of the Wolverine Sports Club Track Cycling Team, and ALL cyclists are welcome to ride / race.
The IVBP conducts track cycling races every weekend all throughout the summer. Different Olympic style events for elite athletes, youth racers, and Madison racing teams are featured. Spectators can bring a lawn chair, have a picnic, and enjoy the tiered hillside seating in Bloomer Park. The track has various riding & training classes each day of the week (weather permitting). Fixed gear bikes are available to borrow/rent.
The IVBP was paid for by private donations, built by volunteers, was given to the city of Rochester Hills, and is a non-profit organization maintained by the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester.
