Topinabee "The Jewell of the North" is located on beautiful Mullett Lake. The lake is one of the largest inland lakes in Michigan and connects to Lake Huron via the Cheboygan River. The community is on the famous inland waterway that runs through Crooked Lake, Burt Lake and Mullett Lake via the Crooked and Indian Rivers. The inland waterway traverses 47 miles and includes Burt Lake (which is another of the five largest inland lakes in Michigan) as well as Mullett .Topinabee is a historic resort town that was developed in the 1800's by people accessing the area via the railroad. The North Central trail runs from Gaylord to Mackinaw City goes through Topinabee and is used for walking, hiking, biking and snowmobiling. It is currently a center for boating, swimming, fishing, snowmobiling, hiking and biking in Northern Michigan. This small resort welcomes visitors year around.
