Northern Michigan Dragway opened Memorial Day Weekend 1970 as Manistee County Dragway. Owner Tom Ledford and his brother, the Late Jim Ledford, built the Dragstrip on their family farm 3 miles North of Kaleva.
In 2009 Tom and Sharon Ledford celebrated the 40th Race Season at Northern Michigan Dragway.
Throughout the Summer Northern Michigan Dragway host races most weekends. Northern Michigan Dragway features E.T. Bracket Racing and a Heads-Up Program. After Hours Street Drags is a race where street legal car can run heads-up against each other and see what it can do in a safe environment, it is billed as a Run Whatcha Brung style race.
Four Special Events held each year at Northern Michigan Dragway, the first one is Bowtie Challenge in Late June. At the end of July is our Premiere event, Mopars against the World. Our 3rd Special Event added in 2013 is the Blue Oval Battle in Late August. Finally in the end of September is our Mulligan Race, which has become a favorite by racers and fans.
